Diabetic Foot Screening

Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to severe foot complications. It is essential to undergo a diabetic foot assessment at least once a year depending on the risk status of the individual. These problems can include wounds and poor wound healing, infection and neuropathy (nerve damage).

A diabetic foot assessment includes a full neurological and vascular assessment to determine any risk factors and the risk status of the patient. By effectively monitoring diabetes through a diabetic foot assessment, we are able to prevent further diabetic foot complications.

Diabetics may experience the following signs and symptoms:

  • Pins and needles (neuropathy)
  • Numbness, tingling and burning (neuropathy)
  • Long nails digging into skin
  • Ulcers
  • Dry, itchy, flaky skin.
  • Warm, pale/bluish coloured limbs
