Podiatrist Lurnea

You can come to us if you’re experiencing any of the following:

  • First few steps in the morning are painful
  • Feet and legs ache within a few hours of working
  • Pain inside the foot and arch area
  • Foot pain has become worse
  • Foot ulcerations (might be due to uncontrolled diabetes and nerve damage to feet)
  • Thickened nails
  • Yellow or discoloured nails
  • Brittle nails
  • Separation of the nail from the nail bed
  • White streaks on the nails
  • Numbness, tingling or burning sensation between the toes
  • Feeling like there is a pebble in your shoe
  • Increased pain when wearing closed and narrow footwear
  • Decreased pain when wearing open footwear

It’s important that a specialist looks into that problem as soon as possible. That’s because infections and other problems can quickly get worse if neglected. It’s especially the case with diabetic feet where the patient is much more vulnerable to infections.

Diabetic foot screening Lurnea

To better care for diabetic feet and stop it from affecting your work and lifestyle, it’s good for you to undergo diabetic foot screening:

  • A full neurovascular assessment of the feet (assessing blood flow using a doppler)
  • A test on the nerve sensation in the feet using a 10gram monofilament and 128Hz vibrating tuning fork
  • An observational assessment of the skin and nails looking for potential pressure areas, wounds and maceration
  • A risk status report based on the findings
  • Referrals to GP and other health professionals

Due to uncontrolled blood sugar and poor blood circulation, wounds on the feet might not heal properly or they might even get worse if neglected. This can expose you to complications that might affect your mobility.

To stop present problems from getting worse, a timely assessment and personalised treatment plan can make a huge difference. In addition, this can also help maintain a patient’s mobility for the long term.

For diabetic feet, ingrown toenail and other related problems and concerns, you can contact us here at Foot Lab Podiatry. We can create a personalised treatment plan for you after a detailed assessment.
