How a podiatrist can help you
First, podiatrists will determine the exact cause of your condition. Here at Foot Lab Podiatry, we can conduct a thorough diagnosis that includes biomechanical assessments. We’ll also try to determine how your history and lifestyle affects your lower limb health.
For those with diabetes, we can conduct a diabetic foot assessment to know the feet’s present status (especially when it comes to wounds that don’t heal as well as worsening nerve damage). This diabetic foot screening includes the following procedures:
- A full neurovascular assessment of the feet (assessing blood flow using a doppler)
- A test on the nerve sensation in the feet using a 10gram monofilament and 128Hz vibrating tuning fork
- An observational assessment of the skin and nails looking for potential pressure areas, wounds and maceration
- A risk status report based on the findings
- Referrals to GP and other health professionals
Contact us today here at Foot Lab Podiatry if you want to better take care of your feet, toenails and ankles. After a thorough assessment, we will design an individualised treatment for you.
