Do I need a referral to see a Podiatrist?

No, a podiatrist is classified as a primary health care provider. Just like visiting a GP a referral is not required to visit our foot clinic in Western Sydney.

Will Medicare cover podiatry service?

Podiatry is only covered by Medicare under certain circumstances. A valid EPC referral (Enhanced Primary Care Plan) or DVA (Department of Veteran Affairs). To be entitled to an EPC, you must have a chronic medical condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure or asthma. An EPC referral can be obtained by the GP if they deem you eligible and will cover you for a maximum of 5 visits per calendar year. At our foot clinic in Prestons, we charge no gap, bulk billing for all EPC patients.

Do you accept private health insurance?

Yes, we accept all major health funds and provide on the spot claiming with our Hicaps terminal.

Does my private health fund cover podiatry?

Podiatry is generally included under extras cover in private health funds policies.  It is recommended to check your policy or private health insurance provider prior to your podiatry appointment to find out your level of cover and what services you are covered for.

How much is your initial consultation and orthotics?

The cost of our consultation depends on the type of service you require. Please refer to our fees schedule for more details.

Do you accept patients under worker cover or motor vehicle accident compensation?

Yes, we accept work cover patients. A referral from your GP and a letter of approval from the insurance provider is required prior to commencing treatment.

Does your clinic sterilise their instruments?

Yes, we take infection control and patient safety very seriously. We ensure our autoclave is serviced regularly and our clinic complies with current Australian Standards for sterilisation.

What should I bring with me to my initial appointment?

If you have any scans or imaging documents please bring them with you, if you have an EPC referral please bring it with you.

Should I remove my nail polish before my appointment?

It is advised that all nail polish or shellac is removed prior to coming in for your appointment.
